About to buy brake pads for my Sonata on RockAuto, specifically Akebono. They say 'Hybrid' but I wanna want sure if the brake pads are made of a hybrid material or if they're for Hybrid Sonatas? Rear has the option for hybrid and non hybrid for Akebono but front does not. Well it says electric parking brake for front, not sure why that would matter for front brakes, it's a base model SE so no electric parking brake.

Thanks.

A Sonata SE takes part #58101-C2A10 which corresponds to Akebono #ACT1295.

IMO, the Akebono's are overpriced and tend to leave very heavy pad deposits on rotors. We have had to redo numerous brake jobs under warranty due to pulsation, and all of the issues went away once we redid the job using real OE pads from the dealer.

If you insist on using aftermarket the Centric 105.12950 PosiQuiets are a better bang for the buck. I don't think they are as good as OE pads, but the price is more reasonable for what you get.

The term "hybrid" is used by RockAuto in the first line, or DESCRIPTION for Raybestos Element 3, for a low copper ceramic/semi-metallic combination brake pad.

RockAuto uses "hybrid" in the second line, which is the APPLICATION for the Akebono ACT1444 and ACT1445 ProACT ceramic pads.

Confusing, but I'm pretty sure, since they list other Akebono ProACT pads for the same vehicle with and without electric brake rears, that the ACT1444 and ACT1445 are for the Hybrid Sonata.

Also searching broadly for "akebono hybrid pads" reveals nothing in the way of a product line.

Yes, I agree. I've been using them for years and they are great pads at a very good price when purchased on Rockauto.
