If I look on the Akebono website for my F250 they only list severe duty brake pads for front or rear. But I think awhile ago the listed ProAct.

If I look on my shelf I think I have ProAct. Debating if I should get the severe duty Akebono pads for upcoming front brake job.

Maybe!
Do you do heavy towing & hard stopping? If so then the Severe Duty might aid in your stopping power.
However if you’re happy with the ProActs or standard pads that you have on now, just replace with same.
Look up the Severe Duty pads to see if they are right for you.

I tow once in awhile my 27' boat which is close to 10K GVW. The trailer has excellent working surge brakes.

Towing is limited to bringing the boat from the marina to some place for service or other work.

And in DE it's flat no hills. So flat that if your dog runs away, 2 days later you can still see him running!

If you have an F250, you probably use it as a truck for actual truck duty, so the severe duty pads are worth using, especially if their SD pads are still ceramic like all their other aftermarket pads. You will get the stopping power you need without all the noise and dust :)

Pair them with Powerstop Geomet coated rotors or other coated rotors from the gray section for coated rotors on RA's site aand ship from the same warehouse.

I am a computer guy not a construction guy and truck gets used for Home Depot runs and towing my boat once or twice a year. Having a F250 just to tow my boat seems like a bit much, but hard to to my 27' boat with wife's Crosstrek. Anyway I like having a F250 with PSD. People at intersections typically let an F250 go first. Who wants to get hit by a 3 ton truck?
