Batteries degrade. Heat causes them to degrade faster, as do cycles.
That said, hybrid vehicles are designed with battteries thst use a very limited portion of their installed capacity, and therefore have a lot of margin, even as they degrade.
I know of a few Prius with around 200k on them with the original battery. Granted it may be a different chemistry, but some of the principles are still the same.
I'd be concerned, but if replacement was priced into the sale price, a hybrid can be a great option.
