Recently noticed a color change in a new bottle of Husqvarna XP 2 cycle oil. It's now a dark blue color instead of the greenish color . I was mixing up a 2 gallon can, I had one 2.6 oz bottle of Husqvarna & another Redmax brand. Since Husqvarna owns Redmax, both oils are made in Charlotte NC. and have always been identical in color, they basically put same oil, one in a husky bottle the other in Redmax bottle.

The Redmax was the normal green color, but the husky oil was now a dark blue color. Wonder if they've reformulated it some or just changed the dye?

Last Husqvarna XP oil I bought was 2019 off amazon it was blue than. You must have been using old stock. The blue took me back a little when I got it. Near as I could tell it was reformulated and was now a mineral oil base I'm not a fan of that used very little of it before getting away from it. Stihl did the same thing with their orange bottle. This stuff is over priced for what it is.

Fwiw it's just margins and you're getting ripped off with those tiny bottles especially if they're brand name. I've been using gallon supertech outboard rated 2 stroke in all my ope for over 15 years and my most abused units being an old sthil chainsaw, old residential use Husqvarna, and an old really hard used commercial echo for my small farm are all still strong like new and it's the cheapest crap I could buy. Nothing seems to have worn or lost any smidge of power. Just buy a little measuring cup so you don't bother with the bottle anymore. Supertech has gotten too expensive so I'm getting any of these pennzoil jugs next time if they don't bring it down. I also did go a bit heavier pouring in between 3.5-4 oz into the cup before mixing a gallon but nothing makes smoke.

Additives are different in the correct non marine 2 stroke oil. They run much hotter.

That's what I imagined but after beating the crap out of my farm equipment for this long I'm convinced that it doesn't genuinely matter both of the most hard used ones still rip strong. That commercial Echo trimmer should have suffered something because once I step into my big pond it's full throttle with a full tank until it dies and I have to refill it twice just to do the big pond. The chainsaw has cut at least 70 trees and nothing I have has been opened up.

32 to 1 can very well with quality TCW3 oils, in fact some motocross racers switched to TCW3 at a very high mix rate, for a competitive edge in power. It is said that the Penz XLF and Syn Blend TCW3 (in practice) meets EG-D and FD specs for lubricity and cleanliness. These specs are are more stringent than TCW3.

Even so, I tend to prefer a quality EG-D oil and mix that at 32 to 1.

I normally mix Amsoil Sabre for all my small engine equipment. But I had one bottle of Husky and one bottle of Redmax, from when you purchase a piece of equipment they give you a free bottle of oil, so I had those two bottle of oil and I thought why not go ahead and use them up, so I mixed up 2 gallons of fuel for my Redmax Trimmers. Once it's used up, then it's back to Amsoil Saber.

Ive tried to find other oils I like as well as Saber, but always come back to it. Buy the quart bottles and mix in a Ratio Rite cup usually do a 3 gallons mix at a time for my Trimmers & Blowers at 50.1. And do my chainsaw mix 2 gallons at 40.1. So far everything has held up well.

One other thing I do (Which I know is OCD). I but the 4 cycle fuel at Tractor Supply by VP Racing, and use that to mix my Amsoil Saber oil with, this way I don't have to worry if I leave fuel in something for extended period of time, when its needed, the equipment will fire right up no matter how long its been sitting.

We run everything 50:1. I prefer not choking on oil fumes all day. Plus less oil = more power

Being a thickie I run 3.5 - 4 oz per gallon whatever that is in ratio and nothing makes any smoke. Think I'll try 4.25 - 4.5 oz next time to see what happens.

In general, more oil equals more power. We did some pretty righteous testing for racing outboards. 8 to 1 made the most HP, but was really, really difficult to deal with. In the end, our winning combo was 16 to 1. Over 300HP from modified 150HP powerheads!

It should also be noted that the oil type (EG-D) and the engine model all make a difference in whether or not it smokes. My 50cc Husqvarna 346XP chainsaw (that thing rips) does not smoke or smell on 32 to 1. My Echo 50cc saw belches smoke on the very same batch of fuel.

Apologies for the missing word. My autocorrect sometimes edits things for me....

What I meant to say is that 31 to 1 can protect very well with quality TCW3 oils. Even in air cooled engines.

i have also run twc3 outboard for decades in all my 2 cycle lawn equiptment in my lawn biz with never an oil related failure in florida hheat
