UPDATE:
My Cousin survived, her grandkids in Port Charlotte are O.K. Unfortunately Her other granddaughter's
family dairy farm in Myakka City, west of Arcadia was destroyed and they lost most all their cows - I don't know how this happened yet : (

The Flooding in Naples and Fort Myers was horrendous. The poor elderly stick in one story homes with no where to go. Where were their children in this situation?

I like watching the foolish reporters getting blown around and being pummeled by flying debris. Idiots.
Last night I saw Jim Cantore get hit in the jewels by a branch going about 70mph.
I like Jim, he is a big TWC personality over the decades - always out in the thick of it.
Hope he is OK. but that was not smart.

That sucks. That's their livelihood. I hope they recover good.

When hurricane Katrina ripped Mississippi to shreds, we lost about half of our cows. Because of the creek that ran on the backside of the property had a tendency to flood the field, and we were supposed to get a ton of rain, we moved them in the barn figuring they'd be better off there on the high ground. Well, Katrina unfortunately took out a part of the roof and the rest caved in with the hayloft on top of them. The creek didn't flood bad either so they would've been fine in the field most likely. It's one of those decisions my father felt sick about and regretted until the day he died.

I think a lot of vehicles are second cars and Florida has a ton of seasonal residents, especially in Naples. People leave a car or two down there for when they visit for the winter. My in-laws have a house on a street of 8 or 10 houses and only one couple lives there year round. They have 3 vehicles in the garage that only get driven Oct-April. My uncle has a place on Marco island and leaves a vehicle there for when he visits. Unknown at this time if anything happened to their vehicles. Friends of theirs lost multiple cars riding the storm out that were parked in ground level parking garages.

The photos and videos out of Fort Myers are really sad. In-laws still don’t know what, if any damage they sustained as their handyman can’t get there and they can’t reach the other people that live on their street.

OK - we’ve stopped talking about the hurricane, and devolved into interpersonal criticism. Lock time.
