We owned a 1990 Merc Sable wagon from new for over 10 years and 150k miles. It was much prettier than the Taurus variant, and served us virtually flawlessly that whole time. One of the very best cars I've ever owned.
Personally I have never liked the Mercury styling . It has a almost Buick like quality with plenty of chrome and fake flash.
Actualy the ONLY Mercury products I have even liked or been interested in were the German Fords that were sold as Mercury products like the MKI Capri, Ford Sierra (XR4Ti) and Ford Granada.
Of course the mercury marketing people and dealers had no clue how to sell these things and didn't understand the potential customers at all. They were simply happy to sell Gramps his Marquis and be done with it.
I for one hope Mercury styling does not infect Ford products It it did it would definitely deter me from considering them. Oh and I hate that stupid chick on the tv ads that practically begs folks top ut a a mercury on their list. Gahhh!!
