Hi All, This is the first time using something other than TGMO 0w-20 since ~30k

2017 Toyota Tacoma, TRD Off-Road, 4WD 3.5 v6, 6spd MT (Mostly stock save for +1 tires and plate bumper)
Out: HPL Premium (NOT the Plus) 0w-30
8,144 miles on the oil (I drive it kind of hard, but rarely wind it out: 50/50 60mph commuting / stop-n-go. No towing, heavy hauling or real offloading). FWIW: I'm usually a service every ~6 months (Weather dependent) guy, not so much by mileage.
113,215 on the truck

What do you all think?

Have Blackstone rerun the KV100 in a freshly calibrated viscometer. It's unlikely this oil sheared out of grade like that, and Blackstone is notorious for getting the KV100 wrong. It's unlikely the TGMO had sheared down to upper 6s also. Blackstone is the McDonalds of oil labs. They're always getting things wrong and acting like it's your fault when you call them out on it. Use a better lab like Polaris (Amsoil) or WearCheck next time.

Good report. The viscosity decrease is likely from the leftover 20 weight. I know that sounds absurd but I witnessed the same thing when I switched to a 30w. It was not due to fuel dilution either. Based on the flashpoint in your report I don’t anticipate you’re experiencing much fuel dilution. I have a very similar report from a Toyota using HPL 5w30 No VII right after switching from dealer bulk16/20w (bought the Camry used). The subsequent report was phenomenal, and viscosity was in line with what you would expect. I added the reports after the switch to a 30w, and the following report after already having used a 30w for reference; not to hijack your post. Blackstone report is right after switching to 30w. OAI report is subsequent report using HPL Prem+ 0w30.

Even HPL's "more basic" lubes are absolutely stacked. Impressive 👍
I know, right? Given how amazing even a basic PCMO is, I'm hard pressed to try the higher lines. Their "cheapest" oils are laughing at 10k in essentially any application you can dream of, with 15k pretty common in healthy engines. I'd have never thought a basic group III oil could be so good.

HPL's standard is bar none. Aside from testing every batch they blend for QC, they test all material when it arrives. They sample and test base oil from the tanker before unloading it. They have turned away tankers due to the base oil not meeting the quality they ordered.

If the FP is to be trusted (big if), there's not much fuel there. Even accounting for dilution from leftover 0W-20, the KV100 is still low. Nearly half the sump would have to be leftover to make it accurate.
