I've only seen flat-rate shipping during their Independence Day and Black Friday sales. Otherwise, shipping has been calculated.

I've only purchased from them a few times and only in 2025. They may have had different policies before then.

I just ordered a case. BITOG15 for 15% and they listed the FedEx shipping as about $25 to VA.

Correction: shipping when you check out is calculated, but If actual shipping at the time of the order is less for some reason, they automatically credit your payment type. It’s happened on my orders several times. Normally just a few bucks when it happens, but when I ordered 3 gal of CVT & 6 quarts of No VII 5w30, it was almost $9 less than what checkout time told me.

I don’t know (m)any other businesses that would EVER do that after you prepaid them. They’d pocket your $ and you’d be none the wiser.

I’ve bought 12 quart boxes before, and the shipping was like $22 something to SE Michigan. So less than the flat rate. I bought some during their last 20% off sale, and the standard shipping was still cheaper than the flat rate. For smaller orders only, of course.

My last two HPL purchases (motor oil, transmission & gear oil) utilized the BITOG15 discount code. Regular ground shipping was less than 3 days to Indiana.

I will note that my credit card was credited back like $5-$10 dollars of shipping charge because they broke my shipment into two smaller shipments which were less in total shipping cost!!!

I purchase many things via e-commerce and this is only the third time I have ever had a company do this.

So yes… I am impressed with HPL and Advanced Lubrication for doing this and thank them publicly here at BITOG.

I’ve never had the $25 fedex shipping pop up for me ordering online, I’ve always had to email Mary Jane to get it, which is no big deal. Sweet deal on the shipping refunds, first I’ve heard of that!

Shipping to Canada is crazy expensive...I do it daily... several years ago it was dirt cheap.... I'm in Maryland.

Buy it on the sales, 4th July, cyber Monday and it’s a great price for a hell of an oil. I personally pickup 5gal pails when the sales hit, 20% off the top, flat-rate $25 shipping for the order.
