How warm is normal for trans temp

According to my 2016 Rubicon's EVIC the highest trans temp I've seen is 176F, and that is for a few seconds only. Normal temperature is 170F for me. I believe that few seconds at 176F is just before the thermostat of the cooler is fully open, once open 168-170F seems to be where it stays.

I suspect this is why many platforms that use the ZF 8 speed units have a water to oil heat exchanger. It heats in the winter and cools in the summer.

It could also be the reason our GM HD vans use two different heat exchangers, one is ar to oil, one is water to oil...
