How to sell my car these days?

Car is a CVT not a manual. I got a bid of 16200 from carvana and 17400 from carmax. i have seen similar cars to mine ask for $20 to 22k on FB marketplace . Do they sell or not who knows.

Autotrader is going to give you many calls from wholesalers wanting to buy your car or sell your car for you. They will really bug you. Also Craigs list. Marketplace is getting that way also.
yeah anyone that wants your phone number is going to sell it to others and bug you all day long

Go to Edmunds.com to get a true market value based on VIN or plate and mileage / condition. You can check private party value to see what is realistic. Prices you see may not be selling price just asking.

If it has a loan on it, Carmax is super easy to do. I've sold them 2 vehicles and walked out with a check for decent money both times. Would do it again. If paid off then maybe marketplace- if you have time to meet people or try Carvana or the other couple car buying companies mentioned previously. Good luck

Selling on FB Marketplace is a PITA these days, most buyers in my experience on there are flippers wanting something for nothing.
I think you'd be better off selling on a website, whatever the USA equivalent of Australia's Carsales is.

I sold my '13 Commodore wagon for the asking price in two days there to the second person who enquired; compared to it being advertised on marketplace for two weeks prior and getting 30+ messages from ghosters and time wasters.

It might cost a bit, but on a $20k car the ~$100-200 fee is easier to swallow than on a $6k car, and the buyers enquiring are generally more qualified or ready to purchase.

with my moms passing i am going to take her car . i wish to sell mt 2020 civic . not sure what is the best way to do it. Carvana or Carmax? private party? any other selling methods out there?

its been a while since i sold a car
Feel free to PM me. I've sold over 5,000 cars at this point in my life and I'll be happy to help.

It's not hard at all. You just have to make a good presentation and tell the truth as much as possible. You will eventually attract the right people.

The he will get calls from Dealers wanting to buy it. It will be on the level of Spam.
I sold my Aunt's 3 year old Accord on Autotrader, deposit in hand in 24hours. Sold for $6800 more than her lease buyout. I undercut the dealers by 1k. Almost everyone who called was someone who didn't want to deal with dealerships. One dealer called.

She was going to turn it back into the dealership.

Congrats. Usually the more expensive vehicle the harder it is to sell privately. I imagine there was some time invested (even if you had a deposit quickly) since the lease holder was involved. The buyer gave you the payment but what was the title process-since a third party was involved?
