I have a picture in Paint. I use the slider at the bottom right to enlarge it and then save it as a png picture to Downloads using the File button on the top left of Paint. When I open the saved picture in Downloads, it shows up to original scale, not enlarged. How can I save an enlarged pic?

You are just playing with the viewing zoom. You have to upsize the actual image.
File > Image Properties, then change the width and height to what suits you. Make sure to keep the proportions (if you multiply Width x2, multiply Height x2 as well).

You are ZOOMING, not changing the size. When you make images larger, they generally lose quality, just so you're aware. Some programs are more capable, but don't expect a lot from Paint.

IIRC this will change the size of the virtual "canvas," not the size of the image.

OP, what are you specifically trying to accomplish?

I use IrfanView, and there, that's what it does. Mileage may vary in Paint though,

OP, for printing, you need to play with the print dialog's settings. You will have a fit to page option or something like that. You can experiment with print to pdf first.

Don't use the "Print" icon. Use File > Print. This will give you options to play with.

Something tells me your image has TONS of whitespace around it.
Yes. I am not very computer savvy. I received an email and I printed the email out as you see it on gmail. I then cropped all the extra stuff on a gmail page which accounts for the blank space.
I googled "printing gmail page" and found out that I should use the print icon on the gmail page to save the page as pdf and then print it out.
All this arose because I was pulled over by a cop for rusty license plates. Not surprising since the plates are from 1982. He did not give me a ticket but I expect I am in their system as being warned already for the plates. I made an appointment with Service Ontario but that is not due till Oct 10. So I printed out the appointment email and keep it with me in the truck in case I get pulled over again. Right now the printed page is tough to read because the letters are very small.

Figures. Of the many things Google does well, printing emails has never been one of them.

Click on the print icon > Select a printer > Expand "More Settings" > Start playing with the "Margins" options. See what the preview shows and if it helps:

If this doesn't work and push comes to shove - download IrvanView. It's a free image editor and viewer that is quite powerful. Once you crop your image there - go to File > Print, and play with the options (scale, zoom, etc). Usually it solves most things.

Never heard of Snip but I just checked my computer and it does have that tool. I will play around with it.

If on Win11, you can also hit the print screen button in your keyboard will let you draw a square around the specific picture and it will put the picture into a "clip" in the background process. You can then paste the picture into Windows paint. Snip works very similar except it automatically pulls up the picture and lets you save it immediately.

There is ZERO reason that an actual email message should need manipulated in order to print properly. I suspect your issue is your printer settings. Feel free to PM me and I can give you my email address. You forward me the message and I can send you back multiple options.
