How to remove Fuel Hose Clips

I either need a smaller circlip set....but how do you remove the clips off the fuel hose line. It's not a clamp you can use a small slipnut plier on

Very thing wire overlapped with ears *in theory for a circlip*
Honda GX motor/fuel line...
 
Are they disposable clips? When i would have to change the fuel filter on my Taurus, I would just use a set of needle nose pliers, break the clip and replace with the new filter

I think I'd go with a 6" slip-joint pliers for the clamp in that picture. A pair with grooves running across it should be good, not flat or diamond shaped grippies. If you have tougher more calloused hands than I do you might be able to get away with just grabbing it.

Maybe a linesman's pliers (electrician) would have a pattern that grips better.
