How to insert photos in to posts on BITOG?

I would like to insert a photo in to a posting here on BITOG but it seems that the "enter an image" button only gives the option to enter a web address for the photo.

Does this mean that photos have to be uploaded to a different site and then linked, or can I upload a photo directly from my computer to BITOG?

I don't think so, I see many posts with the photos in them, no link required. I do not know how to do it, but several people here obviously know the trick. Bill in Utah knows how to do it, this past week he posted pics of his brake pads with over 100k miles on them.

I'm hoping someone posts the how-to on doing this

use brackets and img tags, host the pictures elsewhere like photobucket. If you right click on someone's pic in a thread it will show the source being somewhere other than BITOG. Photobucket makes it easy with cut and paste IMG tags.

I use Tinypic. You upload the picture to their site,then it gives you a spot where you copy and paste the code to where you want to display your picture (on Bob Is The Oil Guy for example) and you paste it within your message. Click "preview reply" and you can see how the picture will look within your message before you post. They give you several size options and you`ll want to use the one that says "message boards" so it doesn`t make it too large.

BITOG does not have a photo hosting feature so your pics must be hosted elsewhere. Photobucket, Imageshack.us, Google Picasa, tinypic.com, etc.

Upload the image from your computer to one of the hosts listed above (or find a host you like and use them).

Copy the URL the host gives you.

Come back to BITOG and paste the URL between the IMG tags the little button gives you, or type in your own tags using brackets [ ] (
[ IMG ] no spaces

[ /IMG ] no spaces

Hit "Submit" and your pic should display in your post.

Incidentally there are a few websites whose servers are set up to only serve images for themselves. (They figure it out through http headers). So beware if you borrow.

Photobucket and the rest of the list above are specifically meant for sharing so one won't get goofy error images.
