I have a bit of a problem on my Dad's Oldsmobile 88. He slammed the trunk lid too hard and now the trunk won't open. The rear seats unfortunately don't fold back. Can someone think of a good way of tackling this problem without damaging too many parts? I've already tried lightly prying on the trunk lid with a crow bar and couldn't pop it loose. Thanks.

Bigger crow bar.

Take out the bottom part of the back seat. That should give you access to the bolts that hold the upper part of the seat in place.

You might be able to gain access to the latch that way..

Maybe have someone lean ON the lid while you turn the key, then QUICKLY pulling upward?

That worked. The entire plastic latch assembly broke where it bolts to the trunk lid, so I zip tied it back on for a quick fix.
