How sure are we in clear headlight protection film

My concern is less protection from rocks and more from pitting and yellowing.

But I'm interested in the long-run... How well do the films work?

We did them on my wife's 08 VW and the lights look new, but 3.5 years is too short a window. I'm curious of how they look and if/how the lights yellow with these things on at the 10+ year point. Are those films still removable? Will they damage what is underneath? Do the lights yellow anyway?

Seems that some brands are better than others too. My 98 chevy truck lights look brand new, while my mother's 97 Plymouth are highly yellowed. My 04 Saab hasn't fared that well in the hazing department either.

I'm not sure about the headlight but i have some tint film on my Si and it removed with ease after 4 years of baking in the sun, not leaving behind much to clean. Tail lights looked good as new (the part that was covered up, the reverse light wasn't and there was a noticeable difference in clarity (had an aged, worn look to it))

I've read of some heat issues in certain applications. Search forums for your specific ride. I've read/seen pics of lenses getting spider cracks from the film. I've used it on a few fogs w/o any issues.

Spider cracks from the film??? Due to heat stress or do you think it really because of rock hits that the film held while the light gave?

Nothing works well against UV of the sunlight and the heat of the halogen bulbs. You need to maintain the plastic headlight covers every few years with one of the headlight cleaners/restores.

Try the XPEL 8mil version.

I currently have the Ventureshield Ultra film on my headlights, but I will be removing it for the film by Prestige Technologies.

It's about $150 to have both lights done professionally, so pick your films wisely, lol.

Heat. I know 2nd Gen Sport Tracs (and I'm assuming 4th Gen Explorers) had this problem. Thus, I didn't buy any. Lamin-X of course would/will not replace your headlamp assembly if something does happen.
