You have to realize that your communications are only as secure as the skill/resources of the person/entity trying to get at your information. WPA2, with a proper password, WPS disabled, will stop almost any person with the available password recovery tools from getting into your router. It ain't easy to crack that setup, and if anyone was serious, they would approach it from a different angle. There is no absolutely secure wired or wireless system, just degrees of security.

Main thing you worry about is securing your system against someone trying to upload/share movies or music, or some sort if illegal files (use your imagination). DMCA notices are my main concern. I don't see where you would have any information valuable enough to attract someone with the resources to get into your data. Data thieves, like most criminals, follow the path of least resistance. That unsecured network, or WEP encryption, will attract the unwanted attention first. Pay attention to your initial setup, file sharing settings, who you share passwords with, and you are fine unless homeland security/FBI or other 3 letter agency wants to have a look.

Yep. Our neighbor was running an unsecured network. I warned him about it and offered to help him fix the issue. He scoffed at the idea. He later approached me about problems with his network speed. I found someone was on his network running torrents. He still wasn't convinced until I accessed his printer via his unsecured wifi and printed out a page that said HI BILL WANT TO FIX THAT NETWORK PROBLEM YET?
