Found a couple of 5 quart jugs of Q Torque Power for $11. Dated sometime in late 2006. Is this too old, or would I have no issue using this oil. It's just a nice deal, obviously.

Thanks for the help.

Depending on where it's been stored it should be good for anything between 16 to 24 months per manufacturer claims that's been posted here before. However I think engine oil is chemically fairly stable if it's sealed and kept away from extreme cold or hot temps and should be fine even if a few years old. Use it with confidence if they are still sealed.

That's only 2.5 years old. I'd use it without hesitation.

Typically, three years is certainly OK. Even five years is OK for a sealed container for most decent brands. After that, you risk some of the additives falling out of suspension? Perhaps Johnny could add some details?

But for $11 for five quarts and only 2.5 years old, I'll take it off your hands if you don't want it!

I agree, most mfg's claim 5 year shelf life as a rule of thumb, but it lasts a lot longer than that. If you're really concerned shake it up before you pour in into your engine.
