My stepsister gave me about ten unopened bottles of Mobil 1 5w30 SJ rated that she found in her new house.

Its the old fashioned bottle with "Tri Synthetic Forumula"

I had to top off my truck with about a half a quart today and cringed alot but I eventually opened a bottle and topped it off with the old Mobil 1.

I know I probably didn't hurt anything, but should I keep the Mobil 1 or ditch it.

I hate to throw this stuff out I know it probably cost her 4 bucks a quart.

If it bothers you so much, you can send it to me!

It will be fine. Heck my 1994 Pontiac Grand Am calls for SJ I believe.

My 89 Nissan would be happy with "SF" according to the book, back in 89 thats probably what I was using....I'm still driving it.
Car makers always list the current grade at the mfg time for warranty purposes. Oils get better as grades progress (so they tell us anyway!)
Your main concern is if you normally use 5w30, then no problem whatsoever. If you normally use thicker oil you may want to thicken it up some maybe...but the "SJ" is not a problem for free oil for sure!
