How often to change oil @ only 3K/Year?

If it were me, I'd do it every six-months with a name-brand 5w30 mineral oil under current driving conditions...

But, have you considered taking an old fashioned Sunday "motoring" and taking your truck out for a few miles on the highway and doing a little site seeing? I think you'd get rid of some of the accumulated impurities and could go a full year on a mineral oil in good conscience this way...

I think a good rule of thumb for vehicles that see 5K or less in a year is once a year with synthetic, twice a year with dino or blend.

once a year will be completely fine, nothing more is needed and will be a waste of good oil.

I'm in this same situation with my 2002 Altima 2.5. I average maybe 4K/year, mostly on a 6-7 mile commute. I currently run M1 5w30, and change the oil roughly every 10-12 months.

I have a question, though. Because the car doesn't see a lot of miles per year, do you think I can hold off changing the filter until every other oil change?
