How much to fix this minor damage?

Once you get out of the city and find a small body shop "out in the woods" things can get done a lot cheaper. That bumper can be fixed and blended in. The light appears to be the only part the OP needs. Get that at the junkyard as well as the trim piece, but it looks like that can be fixed. From what I can see, it looks like another car brushed into it making a turn probably backing out of a parking space. If you're looking to get the maximum amount of money (in reality, who isn't) then the repair cost could exceed the amount of the price paid for the car.

The only "cutting of a check" they could potentially do is give you your money back and reverse the sale. Then of course they'll auction the car again. You are welcome to bid on it again in its new as-is condition.

Judging from various OPs posts he is more than familiar with how the car auctions work in his area, so I would not worry about him getting compensated for this damage.

In regards to fixing costs, I would imagine getting the parts, since this is an R model would be the biggest challenge. I would start looking on the internet for the lamp and possibly the bumper. Maybe check various Volvo forums, people part out their cars quite often.

When I had auctions, the auction had a duty of care ( "ordinary care" ) for the vehicles consigned for auction. Once the vehicles were sold off to a new owner, and the time for the owner to remove the vehicle from the property had elapsed, by contract the duty of the auction to the vehicle was less.

If a title was not available the day of the auction, it was either mailed to the buyer, or they could pick it up at a subsequent sale. The auction didn't keep vehicles for a month after a vehicle had been sold on, unless prior arrangements had been made.

OP is an amateur car flipper; most non junk ( public = junk ) auctions won't let folks like him attend. Not enough facts are given to know what recourse, if any, he has against the auction.

I don't have a clue what the repairs would cost - most used car dealers had folks working for them that would take care of small stuff like this.
