How much sell my Purecontacts for?

I'm certainly not GIVING discount tire money to take my barely used all seasons, how much money can I GET for them on craigslist? 195/65/15, I don't have a depth gauge but I'd say 75-85% of the tread is still on them, definitely enough for someone who doesn't know how great snow tires are for at least another 2 seasons including this one.

What do you guys think I should sell them for on CL to get them out quick? $125? $150? less?

edit: were about $400 new, $500 with installation and everything.

$150 sounds excellent for them dunno. You can always start at 200 and go down from there. 400 from brand new and that much tread life left you should be able to sell them quick at 200 but i could be wrong.

If the tread remaining is more than 75% (7/32" or more) I think you could get up to 50% of original price of $400, so list for $220-230 and accept offer above $150.

Hello, As has been said, An honest 75% tread should get you "50%".

The trouble is people cruising Craigslist looking for everything for next to nothing.

Take your pics, run your ad and include lines to the effect that these are 7/32" or whatever and that the value is there.
Underscore the quality level of the Contis you're selling.
State plainly that you're not a liar and that you wouldn't waste anyone's time..

The ONLY time I was ever lied to on Craig was by a dog's dirt guy who misrepresented a pair of "Bald Eagle Tires". Kira

They're a real popular size. I'd list 'em for $50 ea, 90 a pair, or $175 for all 4. Stick the $50 in the title so it grabs eyeballs but be clear about how it breaks down.

Also if the date is within a few years, get a closeup of the DOT/Date code.

I pay $20-25 from a junkyard for nearly new tires, but every market is different. And I usually wind up with chinese all seasons.

Discount Tire will do trade-ins on tires that are still good. At least, many locations will. I know my local one does and I've read about it online at other locations.

I don't know how much they'd give you, but it's worth asking.

Actually winter tires have been proven to give better traction both in the winter and in the summer because of softer rubber compounds. If you use them in the summer they will wear out faster though.

Buy a $3 tread depth gauge, and measure each tire. It's a huge turn-off for me when people state "x% tread remaining". You can't run a tire down to 0/32nds. I would want to know the exact measurements of each tire. Good luck.

Better straight line than SOME all seasons, but otherwise no... or no one would use summer tires. A lot of people don't care about tw.

That is obnoxious but I expect value exceeding pro-rate. So a tire at 5/32 should be cheaper than 30% of new price, figuring an 8/32 span between 10/32 new and 2/32 legal minimum.

Most people would have to figure in mounting, though I have machinery to take care of that. Still, this shouldn't benefit the seller.

Realistically a tire at 5/32 shouldn't go for more than $10 unless it was $200 to start with.
