How much is this mower worth??

Going through my shed this last weekend I realized I need to sell some ope that I don't use anymore.

The mower in question is this mower. MTD yardman DLX 6.5hp 21"cut. I bought it in 2005 when my Lawnboy was down for an overhaul.

Used for a month and a half, probably less than 5 hours total.

Looks new. This has very desirable Kawasaki OHV FJ180V rated at 6.5hp, that I don't think you can even get on a consumer grade mower anymore.

This is self propelled front wheel drive, heavy frame, has the large rear wheels, and has a unused grass bag with it. Thanks Tom

Pulled it out of the shed a few hours ago and put some fresh fuel in it.

Started after about 10 pulls, runs ok but not great.

I had ran it dry of fuel about 5 years ago, but must still have a little gunk in the carb. No big deal the carb is coming off tomorrow for a cleaning.

Then a good op's check in some high grass, a washing, then Craigslist.

Oh...Don't want to forget. Even though the oil looks fresh (it was five years ago). Gonna drain and fill with some Pennzoil Conventional 10w30 for the next lucky owner!!

Only worth what someone will pay. The carb being dry for years is bad news.

Probably half of what you paid. To most people...the type of motor doesn't matter.

I think I paid around $250-300 but not sure. It was back in 2005.

Carb is off and I'm doing my standard cleaning. VERY basic carb. One main jet. It has a fixed throttle governed to 3200rpm.

Yes it was pretty gummed up.

There's one thing about the smell of old/nasty gas that you never forget. Ever since my dad showed me how to clean/rebuild a carb when I was eight or so. Still smells the same!!

Start at $200.

Scrub it good and give it a wax and tire-shine. Make sure the blade is sharp and not rusted.

That's an odd-ball MTD/Yardman for sure. I've never even heard of one with a 'saki engine on it. A Canadian model perhaps?

I loathe the rear bike wheel equipped models. It's almost ALWAYS too much for the axle and mounting hardware in the rear to handle, and stuff gets all loosy-goosy back there.

Like said, maybe ask $200 with'er all polished up. Draw attention to the expensive kawasaki engine and go from there. Really though, that engine only means anything to people like us. LOL.

Got the carb cleaned, replaced some fuel lines, and the primer bulb. Runs awesome. Washed and ready to go.

Looks brand-new!! Not the huge back wheels either, which is great IMO.

I would talk up the engine in your add. Those Kawasaki engines are powerful! I think it would fetch $225 to the right buyer if it runs correctly. Used mowers only fetch 20-50% of their new cost. I'd rather have that engine than a honda or briggs.

It is kinda odd that a typically lower end MTD would come with that engine. Those engines are usually found on $1000+ commercial mowers.

wow, looks great, 6.5 hp,,,as a kid in the 50s, 2.5 or 3 hp on a 20 inch mower was high horsepower, how things change.

Bought it new in I believe 2004 or 2005. I'm a big fan of Kawasaki engines and when I saw it I had to have it, even though I barely used it.

Got it running perfect. Starts on first pull runs perfect. Has an automatic compression release so very easy to pull.

While true, most of those same people also do not know that MTD makes [censored] products.
