I put about 4 pumps of grease in each swaybar link and called it good. I used white lithium grease. How do you know how much to pu in it?

What is the correct stuff? Said to use chassis grease which was basically a lithium based grease.

In a perfect scenario, the boots will have a grease release slot at the top of the boot to let excess grease out, but sometimes they don't have a grease release slot, or the grease release slot is blocked by a suspension component and you run the risk of ripping the boot by pumping in too much grease. One time I ripped a ball joint boot on a brand new lower control arm by pumping in too much grease while the control arm was still off the car . . . that was a painful lesson.

White lithium is for low pressure stuff and it's not really good for that. You want a grease that says "chassis" on the tube

X2, just a few strokes to puff out the boot a bit. Amatures always over grease and the boot pops off

I have blue grease, white lithium grease, and Pennzoil marine grade NLGI 2 grease. Will any of that work? The blue grease is for the steering cable on my outboard motor.

Or I can get a fourth 14oz grease gun and get chassis grease. Never seen it before, but ill look at the auto parts store.

Option 1 or 3 would be good choices.

NGLI #2 is what you want, but marine stuff would have extra, unnecessary additives most likely. Go to your local Wal-Mart and buy a tube of NGLI #2; the type designed for your application will usually say "premium grease for chassis and high-temp wheel bearings" or something of the sort. Many will be lithium based, and that's okay, but white lithium is not the right stuff.

I suspect the marine grade grease is not lithium based but calcium based. Double check whatever you use to make sure the new grease is compatible with the old grease.

What about for u-joints? No boot, so I'd think you'd go until it squirts out old grease.

I'm just going to go ahead and get actual chassis grease and buy another 14oz grease gun. No big deal. Not sure if it's compatible with the white lithium, but their isn't much I can do now. Luckily it's just swaybar links so I think it will be fine. It's too bad moog doesn't say what kind of grease to use. It just says to grease them after installing.
