How much do scrapyards typically pay?

I got $600 for my '07 Sonata from Peddle.com, plugged in details on line, instant offer. Covered windows/body panels/runs/drives/cat. Mine ran but was spraying oil. Cat original with 220k on the vehicle. They basically wanted the cat iirc.

Scrap yard by me worked out to about $400 by weight. Junk yards ranged from $200 max if I brought it there to we won't charge you if we need to pick it up.

Peddle was so easy and more money that next day I did the same with an '03 Grand Cherokee that sat to long as a project that didn't happen. It didn't run, rusting and other BS. I got $720 for that.

Both times they came next day with flatbed and cash.

The reason I’m asking is that I’m thinking of Frankensteining together a couple of cars and then selling the remains to recoup some of the cost.

I did that with great results and two awful Cavaliers! BIL blew the motor on his 04 so I got an 00 for $350, sold the carcass of the donor car as well as the dead motor for $285. Then I got $50 for two good mounted tires, LOL.

Pro tip, see if you can sell the catalytic converters separately, typically you get more money that way.

Anybody ever scrapped an average sedan like a Camry or a Malibu? How much does the scrapyard usually pay for one with decent body panels but a dead engine?

I just got $290 for a 2000 Camry that needed a new engine. They came by and towed it away.
