Why politicians are acting in the best interests of huge corporations and not the average man is a mystery to me. I guess we just allow them to do it, so they do.
So your solution is to shut off trade? Nothing comes in or goes out? No jobs can be received or sent?
In what's supposed to be a free country how do politicians prevent private entities from investing in foreign countries? Why would a politician want to prevent foreign entities from investing in our own country?
I'm not an economist, but I don't see what benefit we have gotten as a whole society from allowing huge trade deficits from countries with slave wages, and little environmental regulation? Some people have gotten very rich, and now we can buy a $8 toaster... But for the average joe, he'd rather make a decent wage, and pay a reasonable amount for his goods that employs his neighbors, rather than taking a minimum wage job and having to buy imported junk at walmart.
Some conditions for trade would help our people stay employed while requiring imported goods to be made on a semi level playing field.
Bingo.
Hence the massive trade tariffs with currency-devaluing nations that practice dumping like China in Europe. Somebody has to put the brakes on this Gong Show. The jobs that have been sent to China were part of the backbone of our economy. Now those people are collecting EI, Welfare or are homeless and have turned to crime. Hooray for outsourcing!
