I have noticed that a lot of folks on here own more then 3 vehicles, jeez, how many rides does it take to be happy, well its their business,,the oil companies love it though, car or truck ownership sometimes seems like a hobby. We are a spoiled nation, could b in Haiti I guess, I don't think they are concerned with oil wt there,,opinons are like body parts, we all have some.................

Up to five on my insurance but one is for the wife. Have room to park them all and it actually saves me fuel by not having to use the kid hauling van for commuting. My $250 motorcycle gets 52 MPG just like a Prius. Other project beater cars get flipped for profit. I like hobbies that accomplish something productive.

Fortunately fixed costs of insurance and registration is reasonably priced where I live.

And I can say stuff like "I used to have a Taurus for a little bit, boy it handled good" without having to rent said cars for mucho $$$.

Must be nice to afford multiple vehicles, lol One is enough for me and girlfriend has just one too. She pays for her own vehicle and parts and maintenance stuff, I just do the work on her car.

Well, let's see...

My car 1
Wife's car 2
motorcycle 3
2-scooters 5
2-bicycles 7

7 - Yup, need a few more...

Oh yeah, and a riding lawnmower in case I loose my license.

I have 5 . 3 are scrappers under $2000 that run fine. A truck that sits here till summer and the wife's taurus.
That gives the kids a car and an extra if one goes down. That way I never have to rush off to a rental or a mechanic. My insurance is $400 a year but 2grrr because of the 2 kids. Each one has to be insured on a pl/pd car or it would be $2500 just for them.I play the game and come out even.

Why is the number of vehicles that I own important to you? And, since I only drive one at a time and all are fuel efficient, why would the oil companies love it?

My Explorer I drive pretty much winter only. My BMW has always been summer only. The Grand Am's are for one daughter and the wife. but I do all the oil changes and repair work. One Daughter has a 91 Lumina she loves, but I am don't list it as it's beater status..

Remember I said what ever u have is ur business, its not important to me,,no sarcasm intended, it was just for fun, in another life time i too owned, f100 ford, taurus, Honda accord, dodge van( still hve it), all are gone now except the dodge van.............I was car poor, lol

My thoughts exactly. I own two but the second one sits in the garage most of the time and only sees a couple thousand miles a year. And when I DO drive it, that means the daily driver is sitting in the garage. I haven't figured out how to drive them both at once.

I own a lot of cars, but why not? I own them outright, insurance costs a few bucks, but I have VERY good rates. I can pay fr five what some of my peers pay for one with less coverage. If that's the hand I have, why not play? Free country.

I like to have diversity in my vehicles, and if you change fluids on a per mileage basis, the amount done is the same whether all miles are put on one car or split amongst many. Tires can become an issue due to dry rot and UV, but if I can afford them, what is the issue?

If anything, I spur the economy more than someone with less cars, as Im keeping more people employed, creating more demand for services, etc.

We have two but actually only need one. One sits in the garage and may get driven once or two times a week.

Sooner or later the United States will have to address the problem of public transportation as other countries around the world have done.

Only way I see it changing here is for the price of fuel to continue skyward as it has done in many other parts of the world.

We have three. We only need 3 but one is moms play car.

03 Expedition: Family car, mom's daily driver in winter
99 Jeep: Dad's Daily driver
97 Cavalier: my daily driver
07 Mustang Convertible: Mom's daily driver when weather is nice.

I don't see anything wrong with multiple cars. If you can afford them, why not?

I have one vehicle due to space and money constraints. You can bet I would have several others if I had the room and funds.

Just as a FYI, I've solved the problem of how to make sure the oil companies love me and that it looks to them like I'm driving more than one vehicle at a time: when I leave the house, I start one or two of the others that I'm not driving at the time and let them idle until I get back. Viola!

I have five cars/trucks. Two junkers and three nice rides, one DD and two garage queens that get out on weekends. Like others have noted, other than operational fluids, I dont use any more oil than a person with one car. I'm still just one driver, havent figured out a way to drive all my cars at the same time, yet.

My father is the same way, and so was his father. You are either a car guy and get the "need" or you aren't. Sure I dont "need" five cars but I "want" them, and this is still America isn't it? Is this still allowed?
