How many rides do we need?

I have 7 cars and 3 Harleys. I am a car collector so I don't drive most of them all the time. It may seem in excess to some, but I don't care because it's therapy for me. It makes me happy and releases stress when I work on them or drive them.

Most people I know that has more than 1 vehicle per person get in that situation due to having an older beater that aren't worth selling for, rather than buying multiple vehicles just for the bragging right.

One of my friend has 3 vehicles that aren't beaters, but he goes on race track regularly and blew engines on a regular basis as well, one of them is a supra twin turbo and one is a daily driver, and the remaining one a regular weekend racer, so those are special purpose vehicles that he wouldn't get out of the garage lightly.

I have a total of 5 vehicles at my house. This spring we're going to try to sell my father's 1967 Corvette, so hopefully soon we'll be down to 4. My mother has her 2005 BMW 330ci that she almost never drives (10k miles still). The Explorer is her daily driver. Buying the Ranger was kind of a mistake, because we thought my sister would be taking the Honda, but she ended up moving out and buying her own car. So now I use the Honda when I feel like keeping the mileage off the Ranger, or if I'm going to a bad area where I might get door-dinged. We thought about selling the Explorer, but it makes a fantastic paid-for, reliable beater that doesn't really cost us anything to own. IF/when it has a major, expensive failure, it will be sold. But I don't see it happening anytime soon.
