Got 2 cases MC syn blend 10W30 for 1.71 a quart when AAP discontinued carrying it. I only use it in my lawn mowers, and so far, so good.

I'm running Fram Synthetic 5w20 in my scion right now and I'm happy with it so far. I bought it on clearance at Autozone awhile back for 2.29 a quart, its the SM/GF4 variety. This stuff is pretty much the same as the Motorcraft Synthetic. My normal valvetrain noise has all but gone away with it. It was much more noticeable with the valvoline next gen I was using.

I may buy a jug of the MC syn blend even though its expensive. Probably run it to 6k maybe 7k since my driving is just about all highway.

thanks guys

adam

I have been using the 5W-20 in my Mustang, I might try it in my Wife's Scion. I don't have any UOA's to share. I based my choice on good reports here on BITOG.

Only thing that burns me up bout the Motorcraft/Kendall oil is that I cant find Kendall in the pittsburgh area other than at Autozone.

I just did an oil change today on my Dakota, this is the first time I have used Kendall GT-1 semi-synthetic 10W30 but I have to say I am very impressed with it. I know it is a brand new oil fill but my truck is running very smooth and quiet on the GT-1. At idle my clutch and throwout bearing make more noise than my engine does and I can really feel the smooth idle in the steering wheel. I have only done about a 6 mile test drive but my truck is running great, feels like it has a little more get up and go. I was using QS Advanced Durability conventional before this. I had no problems with QS either, I have just been trying to find a good syn or syn blend that would help with my aging engine without going to a HM oil. There are a lot of good reviews on GT-1 here and other sites. I paid $4.99/qt at Auto Zone and I don't really mind paying a higher price for better oil.

Motorcraft Semi 5w20 in my daughters 2007 Toyota Yaris.

Used Mobil1 for the first 4 years, but MC ever since I purchased four jugs at Walmart for $15 each.

We are changing every 6 months and she is driving about 7k miles.

I used to have the Ford dealers change the oil in my Ford so it always got syn blend 5w20.

No problems with it. I just stopped using it when I realized I could use any oil and that oil could be had for virtually free if you wait for deals.

I also used to have the dealer put QS bulk syn blend in my Lexus, but when I moved to QS full syn, I just got the feeling from the butt dino that it was more robust. The engine sounded quieter, seemed to sound better when reving high.

I feel the same in my Ford with full syn vs syn blend. Nothing ever went wrong with syn blend, but I've detected a smoother engine with full syn. However, I also moved from 5w20 to 5w30. Next oil change I will go to full syn 5w20 and see what happens.

I would say though that there is probably something to be said for the fact that Motorcraft has been engineered for Ford - if you are using a Ford, then it seems to be a sensible choice.

Since you have a Honda, and since you seem to be after what is best for your vehicle, perhaps you should go for Honda oil.

Wish I could still find Tropartic out west...

I would go for the Kendall or Motorcraft oil. Is Honda Genuine oil still made by Conoco Phillips?

thanks

Yes it is.

I use Kendall strictly in my ecoboost. The 5.4 in the F250 gets motorcraft but had QSUD in it right now from my stash. The old F150 with 5.0 gets motorcraft or trop artic (2.30/qt at samsclub). The Focus gets Motorcraft. I tend to like COP oils, mostly because I can get Kendall and Trop Artic for cheaper than most other oils, without messing with rebates. Price is the same as 5qt jug conventional prices at walmart.

I use Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5W-30 in the Mustang, and have tried to keep it an All Ford Product. Since the selling dealer uses Valvoline Products, that I do not want in my Mustang, (1) oil change that lasted 400 miles or less, I have gone to another Ford dealer that uses Motorcraft. Especially after the manager, of the selling dealer, kept denying that his crew put in VWB in the car. The invoice showed Durablend, however, the number indicated bulk 5W-30 VWB from a 55 gallon drum. The manager admitted that he lied to me and said that the next oil change would be a full synthetic for free, I did not take him up on his offer. I have since moved and have contacted another Ford dealer and they use Motorcraft 5W-30 Full Synthetic or Mobil One 5W-30 Full Synthetic. I am thinking of using Mobil One in the Mustang next time. As I wrote before, I would like for the Mustang to remain with Motorcraft Products, however, I think that Mobil One would be the best for all of my vehicles.

My fiancee uses Motorcraft 10W-30 diesel oil in her 2003 Ford Superduty with the 6.0 and has done so since new. She also uses Motorcraft 5W-20 semi-synthetic in her 2007 Mustang GT that she bought almost three years ago with 6,900 miles on it. I would't hesitate to use Motorcraft oils as they seem to be very good.

I would not use Mobil 1 as I didn't have very good luck with it years ago.

ive been on a trop artic kick lately. ive used motorcraft a lot in the past and even on a supercharged mustang gt and loved it. since it has gone up to full synthetic prices ive been using trop artic syn blend in a lot of our vehicles. a local farm store always seems to have great deals on it. i believe it and motorcraft are almost, if not the same oil.
