How many miles on your clutch?

The non-HO Quad 4 had an Isuzu transaxle. My '95 Achieva was also really sloppy when I bought it. The hard rubber shift cable bushings were falling apart.

A set of the polyurethane "booger" bushings normally used on the cables in a Neon made it shift great.

In my 95, (non HO Twin Cam 4)its hard to say whether is was the transmission or the sloppy shifter, but overall it was not a fun car to drive. GM even put a light in the dash to tell you when to shift gears. Most ridicules thing I have ever seen for a stick

Maybe they put that shift light to improve gas mileage ?

I know the Honda Civic VX (55 MPG) and Civic HX (50 MPG) has a shift light.

Maybe...I always thought it was for people who were just learning to drive stick.

The upshift light, much like the 6-speed skip shift, is a CAFE credit thing. GM has almost always had that light on US spec cars since the 80's, but others have used it as well.

I forget. When a clutch is worn with a hydraulic system does it become harder to press down? And the fluid level in the reservoir get higher?

My '92 Saturn SC had about 188k miles on it when the clutch died. But it wasn't worn out or slipping, there was a failure of some kind in the mechanism, when we took it apart some little springs were busted and loose. It shifted great up until the shift when it died. Best stick shift I've ever driven actually.

Our 2000 Civic EX had about 183k miles when we sold it. It still shifted well. I replaced the shift linkage bushings sometime around 150k, that tightened up the shifter action nicely.

Our 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero has 126k on the original clutch, still shifts great. The shifter action is (always has been) a little rubbery but the clutch takeup is nice and everything works smoothly. This car also has a "shift up" light, but I had the dealer deactivate it, it's a programmable thing.

Our new-to-us 2006 Accord EX has 26k, shifts very nicely. Has that snappy Honda feel and quick grabbing clutch. Fun to drive.

We only buy stick shift cars. Fortunately my wife likes 'em as much as I do. It was tricky finding an Accord EX with leather and stick shift.

50,000 here and the clutch slips under power in my '04 srt-4 but then I'm making 150 hp over stock

90k on my 01 integra
hoping to get 150k out of this clutch

Love the clutch and shifting system of integra..one of the best i've ever driven

s2k is my fav so far

I firmly believe I erroneously had the clutch replaced in my 1997 S10 at about 17X,000. I regret not looking into it some more, as it didn't look at all that bad when it was taken out.
Shame, but oh well, here's to another couple hundred thousand on the ol' boy!

1969 Datsun 510. Pilot bearing siezed at bout 50,000 miles, replaced clutch disk, pilot bearing and throwout bearing after I beat it apart. Still good at 157,000 miles when I sold the car.

1976 Toyota Corona. Still good at 155,000 miles wen I sold the car to my SIL, she put another 10k-3k miles on it without clutch problems

1980 Dodge Colt. 120k when I got rid of the POS, clutch was still good.

1995 GMC S15. Made mild throwout bearing noise at 85,000 miles. On tear down the throw out bearing and pilot bearing were both shot. Disk had at least 50% life remaining.
