I would add that my 8-year old VW with nearly 100K miles feels much, MUCH newer than a rental of a Malibu Classic that I had recently, with only 25K miles.

On another forum, I recently read a question from someone with a 1.8T, asking if it was worth chipping his "high mileage" car. I had to ask, Is that really a lot of miles? I didn't think so, but my only experience with VWs is my TDI, so not the same at all. My TDI will roll past 280k miles next week and it is running so good right now. I'll be getting some new engine control software tomorrow, not sure if it will improve performance but it might help squeeze out another 1 or 2 MPG.
