Got my licence December 8, 1993, when I was 18. This December will be 17 years I've been on the road.

You?

Got my learner's licence on my 14th birthday in 1983, then I got my driver's licence on my 16th birthday in 1985. So I guess I've been driving legally in one form or another for 27 years.

10 years (17-27).

Wife says I can drive better than most of NYC, seeing as how I've avoided countless smash-ups due to idiot NYC drivers.. (sometimes by a hair.) I almost get hit about once every two days

I was seriously annoyed that I turned 16.5 (min age in MA) on a Saturday and had to wait until Monday to take my test back in 1992.

Back then the license was a polaroid, I still remember the guy taking mine out of the laminator and dropping it on the table in front of me. Now we get these paper temporary deals with the real license in the mail so they know they have your real address.

It expired on my 21st birthday. I renewed a week early and got a "Under 21" flag on the new one.

So that "zero tolerance" policy lead a legitimate 21 year old to present an "under 21" warning that everyone ignored.

1996, just after my 16th birthday. Went and got my motorcycle license. Got my G1 shortly afterwards. No graduated bike license in New Brunswick at the time.

So that would be 14 years.

Too bad you weren't in ME back then. I got my license at 15 in 1974. I still have it. It's paper and has no pic on it.

18 years for me, got it a few days after I turned 16. I rode my dirt bike to work for a year before though...

My Dad got his license borrowing his employers work truck at lunch. He took the road test with the license guy and passed. When they finished and got back to the office, the license guy realized that no one had come with my Dad to drive him there before he got his license... My Dad got a talking too but still got his license.

Got my license when I turned 16 in July of '86. Drivers Ed was in June so I didn't have to wait to get it. Had been saving money delivering newspapers and washing dishes at a local restaurant so I even had my first car waiting in the driveway when I was legal to drive. Sure was nice to get that kind of freedom all at once!
