2011 Camry, a little surprised, slightly disappointed.

I just got rid of a 2000 Camry with the 4 cylinder engine. Supposed to be one of the best Toyotas ever made, but this one only lasted 178K miles.
What happened? Engine failure or a combination of various components failing quickly in succession ? ? Please tell us ! ! !!

Cracked head or engine block causing coolant to get into 2 cylinders and misfires on #1 and #2 cylinder. As in misfires so bad you could only move the car around your lawn and would never take the car on the road (flashing CEL).

The AC compressor is lubricated by the oil that is moved by the refrigerant When a system gets a few ounces low the oil doesn't move like it should It piles up in low spots and starves the compressor.

That's a bummer. Anything can break though, and the older it is, the more random it is. But it sucks when you're the statistical outlier. Reminds me of the difference between a recession and a depression: a recession is when your neighbor loses his job--a depression is when you lose your job.

I’m not a fan of Toyota products by any means, but alternators and ac compressors are wear items that should be expected to be replaced at some point.
