I swapped out the 65K mile origional Synthetic lube in my 06 2500 HD, put in Mobil 1 and was wondering with towing all summer long if I should swap it out again at 100K Easy to do as the front and rear diffs both have drain plugs. Just wondering if I am throwing money away since it takes quite a few quarts.

In a 91 Ranger and 96 Merc GM I left in in for well over 100K. When drained, the fluid was still clean.

Most people never change their diff fluids, so run the Mobil 1 until your truck dies, unless you see frequent deep water crossings.

Ive ran M1 in MB diffs for over 100k at a time (no towing of course) with it coming out looking clean. Never pulled a used oil analysis, but I would guess that it does hold up well. If it makes you feel better, it does not hurt. Unless you can drain a little off, its tough to used oil analysis diff oils and get a true, clean sample. But that is how you would tell - if it oxidizes under use, or shears down too much.
