With all of this technology that's available today, I'm surprised that cops don't have electronic devices from the automakers to shut down a cars ignition system that they're in high speed pursuit of.
As I mentioned, my Jeep is a 2015 model. (Almost a decade old). And if I so desired, I could subscribe to Chrysler Jeep's U-Connect feature that would allow me to start it with my cell phone from anywhere in the world.
If that technology existed a decade ago, then there is no reason they couldn't have a feature available today that would allow law enforcement to shut it off. There is all but zero doubt the automakers could provide it.
Granted it would be highly controversial. And I'm not saying I would be in favor of this, "invasion of privacy". I just accept the fact that has disappeared years ago. And the more that technology advances, the more personal privacy we are going to lose. It's all but guaranteed.
In Singapore for example, they have cameras in public bathrooms to monitor if you flush after you're finished. If you don't you can be eligible to pay a fine as much as $750.00... And go to jail if you don't pay it.... Yeah I know, we're not Singapore...... Yet.
