How is Castrol Dex-6 ATF??

I just bought some Castrol Dex-VI because it was on sale @ Pep Boys for $3.50/qt. That is cheaper than Wal-Mart. The bottle says semi-synthetic. I thought the Dex-VI was suppose to be full synthetic. Has anyone used it and had adverse effects? I will be using it in a 4L60E transmission that requires Dex-III. Once a year I drain and refill the pan (4-qts). A complete fill is 13 qts.

The only one I know that is full synthetic (as far as being easily obtainable) is the Valvoline Dex 6. But at $3.50 a quart I don't know if it would matter to me...

I also used Dex 6 in my 02 Suburban (also a 4L60E) that originally had Dex 3. It made it shift a lot smoother in my opinion.

They are all the same quality.

They all adhere to the same specification, but the V is full synthetic. Most Dex-VI I see is a blend.

FWIW we've used both and could tell no difference in 4L-80-E's and 4L65-E's.

When I had my 02 Sierra I switched over the 4L60E transmission to DexVI. To me it seemed to run mutch smoother than on the OE DexIII.

Similar enough not to worry if price is right.
Valvoline better choice for coldest climate.

GM does not specify the base oil. GM's performance spec for Dex-VI is tough, so only a good syn-blend or better meets the performance requirement.
