How good is B&M products

I am trying to get an aftermarket transmission pan for my Bronco so that I can easily change the ATF without having to drop the pan each time. It is an old truck; therefore, I prefer to change it every two year, regardless of mileage. The pan I am looking at is a B&M pan that has 2-quart extra capacity, which is a big plus for a large 4x4 vehicle intended for light mudding and off-road use.

Does anyone has experience with B&M product? It seems that Summit Racing gets a lot of recommendation but they don't carry aftermarket AT pan for Bronco.

B&M has been around forever. I wouldn't think twice about buying one of their products if it fits your needs.

I have a B&M ATX cooler that I bought at Summit several years ago, and it seems to be holding up fine on my Mazda6s. Construction was good, and the price was very reasonable.

Summit should sell the B&M pan you're looking at, as well as the equivalent in other brands--including their "Summit" house brand, which is usually cheaper.

You might need to search by the model of your trans rather than the vehicle itself. Do you know what trans you have? (Ford guys can correct me, but were the early choices C-4, C-6 and AOD?) You will also want to find out whether the 4x4 has a different pan because of clearances.

There are some very reasonably priced steel pans with drain plugs in the results as well as aluminum ones.

I have the unbranded cast aluminum pan on one of my vehicles and I am impressed with the quality. I don't see a need to pay for a brand name in this instance, as I expect the same foundry makes them all.

a friend bought a b&m blower for a small block chevy. he couldnt get it to work. and he does know what he is doing. i bought a flex plate for a 360 dodge engine it rubied the cover plate. i called them. this kid says "just leave it off" i said "i can see that you guys didnt do your home work. the cover plate has to be there to space the starter. and not EVERY one lives in California with good weather, here in kansas we get snow and ice in the winter. "just hold your breath till i buy my next b&m product." my advice find an other brand, there are several. just keep looking on the net.

I assuming that you know you can buy the drain bolt kit to install in your existing pan and provide the drain plug feature without changing out the entire pan. Of course, you won't get the extra capacity that you will get with the aftermarket pan.

B&M use to make very good products 30+ years ago. I do not know if they still do since I have not purchased anything from them. The pan you want is most likely not made by them. It is probably made by the same place that makes Summit's and TCI's pan. I have read that some of the cast aluminum pans are porous and leak.

Did Ford make a deep pan for the transmission you have in the Bronco? GM made deep pans for most of their larger transmissions that were used in trucks: TH350, TH400, 700R4, and 4L60E. Maybe you can find a deep steel pan at the junk yard and braze a brass plug into the pan. Find a 1/2NPT external thread x 3/8NPT internal thread brass fitting at the hardware store and brass it into the pan.

DO NOT buy a chrome pan. It will leak regardless of how much silicone or other sealer you use.
