How does Valvoline Maxlife ATF DEX/MERC hold up? my 02 tacoma call for dexIII and ihave drained and filled twice with the above brand it seems to do well. how are the used oil analysis for the Valvoline MaxLife ATF dex/merc?? thanks guys

I just used Walmart Dexron III(H) in my GM and Toyota.
I would venture to guess that there is not a huge difference in any of the "Dex/Merc" products available on the store shelves right now. There just is not any incentive to formulate this spec any better than was required by the most recent licensing specs for DexIIIh/Merc. I picked up some of the above mentioned fluid for 1.95 a quart at AAP, since it appears they are clearing it out in favor of the Castrol-branded Dex/Merc. This was was not a bad price, but I think that the SuperTech DexMerc in the gallons or quarts is a better deal for a comparable fluid. If you want to move up a step in quality, buy the Multi-Vehicle ATF from Walmart (Super-Tech). This fluid meets many of the specs for domestic and foreign makes which makes me believe it uses better base oils and additives to meet the more demanding specs.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that the multivehicle ATF is $3.12 a qt. locally at Walmart, not a bad deal for a fluid that tries to meet nearly as many specs as the Amsoil Universal ATF for less than half the price.

Very well. Especially where Mercon-V is spec'd. The red bottle Maxlife ATF is Merc-V spec'd. I've used it in my Ford AX4N for about 30Kmi now. Unscientific, but it doesn't darken/blacken like other Mercon-V's do in this transaxle that is notoriously rough on ATF.

yeah its the red Maxlife atf DEX/Merc bottle. its recommended for dex III, merc V, all toyota auto transmission specs and a few more.. i got them at walmart for 3.50$ a piece. 5 quarts under 20$ not too bad.. talked with the yota guy around here and he said that those transmissions are pretty tough so he said do a drain and fill every 30k miles. ill do it every 15-20k miles lol
I put the Max-Life in my son's Cherokes'transmission and my T case...runs fine.

$3.50/qt is a decent price. I usually get mine at Carquest where it's closer to $4/qt. You can't beat yota AT's. In fact, Greaser, your son's Cherokee may have an Asian/Warner AT in it as well. They are the top of the line IMO.

I've got 4 gallons of Supertech DEX/Merc iii in the garage to use before I can try this stuff.
I did notice on the back of the bottle they state it is a synthetic blend atf, which explains why it can meet the MercV spec. I would like to see a VOA on this as I suspect it has a robust add pac.

Ok, after re-reading the title of this topic, i see now that we are discussing the Maxlife flavor, not the Valvoline blue bottle stuff. Sorry, my post does not really make sense in light of that fact. But now that I know this, let me say that the Maxlife ATF is a great fluid that holds up very well and is reasonably priced. It meets a lot of specs and have used it in BMW's calling for the Esso fluid with very good success. I would not hesitate to use this fluid and it is most surely at least a partial synthetic to meet some of those specs.
I just recently put Maxlife DEX/MERC in my P/S system. So far so good. I did a complete flush, and it is working great for me. No leaks, whines or any problems at all. For P/S systems that call for DEX/MERC I would try it out.
