When I lived in FL. I told myself that when I get to a certain money amount income in my life that I would start having others do my vehicle PM. I figured that I had done enough manual labor on vehicles and the such in my lifetime. How's that saying go? Enjoy the fruits of your labor, or something like that.......
But, there were strict stipulations that I followed. I just wouldn't let ANYONE work on my truck. I knew some techs. at Gator Ford that I trusted. We had formed a great friendship and they even let me into the work area to watch them work. That's true friendship.

Sometimes today, I sit here and wish I could go back in time and do that work myself. You sure never know what you miss until it's gone.

I just slide right under it. I have a little lift and bigger tires that aid in the task. I used to know a guy that had a concrete pit in his front yard.

I typically use ramps, but after doing some front suspension on her car, 2 floor jacks and 2 jack stands under the sub frame was pretty slick.

Ramps just scare me at times.

Repeat 5k-8k miles later.

You forgot it was a windy day....Driveway conditioning 101....
Is it safe to say the neighbors take the LONG way around your place, just the way it should be...

Sometimes I use Scepter ramps, other times I use a small floor jack on an old piece of pressboard...also use jack stands either way just in case.
I could probably do a change on my Forester without raising it, but I'd rather be plenty comfortable under there.

For my Camry I use a 2’ long piece of 2x4 under the right front wheel and lay on my garage floor. For the Odyssey I do them at work on my lunch break and use a two post lift. Easy peasy.

I just suck in my tummy a bit and slide under with wheels on the ground. But all vehicles are AWD or 4WD.

Ramps if you have a hard driveway--concrete or asphalt.

oil extractor is an option if they work good on your vehicle.

Most subaru at least with the fb series engine leaves over 1-1.5qt in the pan with an oil extractor.

the pontiac g6, and several other vehicles are under .5qt remaining.

I do have steel ramps, but for a quick OC , I just drive my front wheels up on to a couple of short 2x6 boards. That gives me more than enough clearance to do most under engine tasks without dragging out the big heavy steel ramps.

A couple of 2x10s gives me the clearance I need and a large piece of old cardboard serves as padding for my tired back and bum.

BlueOvalFitter,

Did you live in the Brandon/Valrico area down in Florida?
