How do you clean your car upholstery?

I would suggest the larger Bissel machine that is right around $200.00 if you have carpets in your home as well. It works great and the attachment you can use for your car.

Do you think the heat would be a worthwhile feature, for general cleaning, or should I focus more on how many amps (and how good the suction is) instead?

Ed, i use hot tap water in mine and it hasn't been an issue even after 8 years. It only heats it 25f over what you put in there. IMHO thats a little gimmicky.
Bissell shampoo is expensive, it works okay but the zep is cheaper by a long shot and works better.
Don't use purple power in it, it will trash the pump when it dries out in the machine as my brother found out.

I guarantee you will be amazed at what comes out of the interior. The water can turn almost black. When I'm done cleaning i always go over it with just plain warm water in the machine no cleaner, it removes any residue.

A hot 95f degree day, some carpet detergent, my garden hose with a trigger nozzle and the large wet/dry vac. I spray on the carpet cleaner , wet the carpet with water and let it sit. Then i use the shop vac and the hose to wet and suck the water at the same time. The carpet yields black water. When clean i let it sit in the sun with the windows down for a day.

Nice machine for a pro detailer but for me its really overkill. I just do my own cars once a year then use Scotchguard on them, all have mats so it all stays pretty clean.
