they list beta ratios for

FL1A -> wix #51515 as 2/20=19/41.

and for wix#51365 as 2/20=15/22

and for wix#51356 as 2/20=18/38.

how do i interpret this?

My guess is:

2 micron avg dia is caught 19% of the time 1st pass
20 micron avg dia is caught 41% of the time 1st pass

etc.

efficiency rating perhaps?

Pretty much worthless unless a confidence level is specified.

is it 2/20 is the micron size, the other side of '=' is the corresponding beta?

so 2 micron = (19-1)/19 = 94.7%
and 20 micron = 43/44 = 97.7% for the FL1A.

???

Beta 2 is 50% efficient.

So the 51515 is 50% efficient at 19 microns and larger.

Beta 20 is 95% efficient.

So the 51515 is 95% efficient at 41 microns and larger.

You can figure out the rest..

Hey thanks! As often as I've looked at the Wix web site data, I've never noticed the beta data before.

Guess I need new glasses.

And they have nominal micron ratings too. Way to go Wix!

I've switched a lot of my air, oil and crankcase filters purchases over to Wix brand, and discoveries like this make me more satisfied that I did. Now, if only other filter manufacturers would be this forthright with product information.

Don't feel bad. They didn't start doing it until recently.
I got new glasses and they still didn't help
