Wow quite some stories there but I also know of 3 toyota corollas that dint make it to 60K and Everybody knows their a good vehicle. Besides The Old lady method is usually worse since they sit for long periods of time.

It was driven 6 days a week. 5 to work and on Saturdays, he'd drive to town and muttle around.

He'd put about 10k miles a year on it.

Prob just got a lemon then. They all make em. But for the record a good WOT run every once in a while IMO is good for a engine.

thooks- I can give you several stories about people I know with various vehicles (including Hondas and Toyotas) that croaked at early ages / low miles. Stories like that are a dime a dozen, and they are also worthless. Your comments illustrate your obvious bias to everyone, so why do you even bother posting?

I used to work for a construction supply dealer who's work truck was a '00 Dodge 1500 with V-6. It went almost 20k miles with out an oil change.

The enging seized up and had to be towed back.

I replaced the oil filter and took off the drain plug, but no oil came out.

I poured in 5qt of cheap oil and some Berryman's Chemtool and kept on trying to crank it.

It finaly turned over.

They sold it quickly after that.

Illustrates my contention that people pay too much for used vehicles. A lot of vehicles are sold because of looming problems. The buyer has no idea of the abuse the vehicle has undergone. BTW I am taking delivery of my new Sierra 1500 on Friday. There are some real bargains with new domestic vehicles now, so unless finances are a real problem, why buy used?

What's happening Cletus? Give me a shout sometime.

BTW,

I know of a few Dodge truck engines that were taken care of and didn't make 100k miles.

One I know was driven softly (think lil' old lady to church and the grocery store) and it ended up needing a rear main seal and bearings before 80K miles.

The other one locked up before 80K miles.

The first truck went through 3 transmissions.

unless you was in the trucks for the whole life of the truck and seen the maintance done on the trucks. then how you know they was taken well care of. word of mouth is worthless when something fails. after all everytime you hear a person engine fails. first thing they say is. I changed the oil everytime at 3,000 miles. never went a mile over and etc etc. when you know they didnt .

dodge 318 and 360 are well known to be strong engines. the 4.7 looks like its well on its way of being placed on that list too.

as far as the one that went trough 3 transmissions. tell that guy not to slam it in rev while doing 60 down the road
