How different is the GM Oil Life System in an '02?

I have an '02 Camaro Z28. It has an OLM but all it tells me is "CHANGE OIL" anyone know how different this OLM is as compared to a newer GM vehicle?

I never trusted those systems. Just change your oil every 4-5K miles.

I too never really trusted these systems and just reset if it ever popped around an oil change time.

i was just wondering how they were.

I think they are pretty good. If you run a decent synthetic, it's conservative. That being said, I only get about 3-4k miles a year on mine, and change it once a year per the manual instructions.
