How dangerous is it to drive with this tire?

Tires are three years old, RE71R Potenza. I attribute the wear to hard driving and sun exposure.

I'm buying a new set but my tires won't be here until next week.

I know they are worn down, but they grip so well. These tires are known for that but that split is what concerns me.

I would not drive on that at all. Sure they grip great, there is a lot of rubber to road contact.

Drive over some dog pee, or A/C sweat, and you might spin out, as worn as those are.

Another vote for driving on. I don't know about the number of heat cycles these tires
have seen, but you're probably fine provided they do hold air and it doesn't rain. One
single track day and they likely look worse. On soaking wet surfaces RE71Rs aren't that
great even when new.

I wouldn't hesitate using them till your new tires arrive. I wouldn't drive at high speeds in the rain however.
That was pretty much my thought as well. Probably not a great idea in rain or snow, but on dry pavement they should be fine for a week I'd think, assuming you don't drive like a maniac.

You're fine. Congrats on your good alignment, and getting your money's worth.
