Like injectors for my 6.7 cummins, it seems the only truly new injectors came in the engine from the factory. Anything after that is rebuilt. Injector pump, same thing. It's rebuilt/remanufactured. Same with an alternator or power steering pump. I get they take the old core and fix them up, but what if I just want to buy a brand new part? Does the government only allow so many parts to be made or something?

I get new ones all the time. Doing a random search on my Autozone account for a 2015 Cummings shows NEW fuel injectors, a Bosch #0445120342 are available. VERY expensive shows list/my price as $859/559 EACH!

Injector pumps are also available NEW from Dorman or Bosch. Alternators and PS pumps available as new as well.

Perhaps you are looking for parts on an older model (I just chose 2015) - which I can search again if you like.

Why is reman so much more,

than new?

$15,000 for a set of injectors if you get some bad diesel? Just another reason to stay away from late model diesels.

Thats how to get rid of diesel's. And the company's are helping it along aren't they?
No reason at all an injector should cost more than $300. tops, with the speed and machines that exist now they spit them out at break neck speed. Cost of manufacture is likely $30. per unit.

Hmmm just searched and found this, all injectors OEM kit for Dodge, at $3K that is all of the injectors and other stuff?

until a few years ago, you could get parts for ny Mercedes ever built at a Mercedes dealer. Guess it finally got too expensive to do. Athough you can still get a lot of parts from Mercedes Classic and they will still factory restore any Mercedes aver made.

On the Ford side of things, at some point there are some parts that you can only get as a reman unit. Alternators, starters, older diesel injectors like on a 7.3 or 6.0 or 6.4L. We also have core charges on items that are not reman like wheels and HVJBs. We used to have ore charges on bumper covers and headlamps, but those went away.

As far as why only reman, there probably aren't new injector housings or like with powertrain no new blocks or transmission cases so you just rebuild the perfectly good old one with all the latest superceded parts. I think for the most part, most if not all of our AC compressors don't have cores so they are usually new units unless it is something old.

But back to the 10 year thing. That doesn't exist. I was looking at getting a new battery cable assembly for my 2014 Mustang and it is disco duck along with the turn signal switch. Fortunately the wiper linkage is still available because someone (me) accidentally gave my M18 impact the full beans when tightening the wiper arm nut instead of a snugga dugga.

Why do they have core charges on new items that aren't reman? :sneaky:

I've seen this with Mopar, too. So-called "new" parts with a core charge. Why?

Mine is an 07 6.7, when my truck was new that's about right. $2500 for an injection pump and about $2k per injector. Now thst the truck is older it's like $600 per injector and the cp3 injection pump is like $600 too, but I don't think at this point you can buy them new

On the surface it is to keep them out of the aftermarket. You will have companies that refurbish wheels and bumpers for body shops. They are supposed to indicate that the item is a refurbished item, but not all do. This is the manufacturer's way of keeping them from doing that. They will destroy them once the cores are sent back.
