If I was on a computer and sending an email, I would have a Word document stored and would copy from it to paste into the body of the email. How do I do the same for a text on the phone? Where and how do I store a paragraph that I can copy and paste into the text?

OK, I only have 10 on my rarely used laptop. Will look into it. Are you saying I can send a text with the computer on Windows 10?
If you have an Android phone, yes. I use it a LOT. Another option is called "Messages for web" and is a web-based texting interface made by Google for android phones. Both the Windows 10 "your phone" app and messages for web work very well in my experience, but messages for web is easier to set up and works on MacOS, linux, win10, etc.
Do you have google voice? If so, very easy to send text messages directly from a PC web browser.
Just looked at that. It's saying, To call and text, get a Google Voice number. You're saying I can send a text from my computer, so why do I need a Google Voice number? Why can't I use an existing cell number?

Anyway, you should just be able to long press on the text window and select paste.
If you need to see it on your clipboard, just open the keyboard, just as if you are going to type, then look in the upper right hand corner for the Three Dot Menu. Press that, and a selection of items will appear. One will be you clipboard. You can copy and paste from that, or just clear the whole clipboard if you like.

Google Voice gives you a separate number, but has the ability to forward all calls and messages to your cell number.

great info + being a smart phone rookie i continue to be amazed what they can do with the proper provider + plan $$$. i use my phone rarely but learning something new is always interesting. ATT cut doing anything but calling on my go-phone 10 cents a minute plan but on my older smart phone but switching to airvoice pay as you go that allows more for cheep + you only pay what you use
I have Apple but likely something something similar on Android.
I would put the body of your word document into a Notes type application as Note and save. When desired go to your note and click the ShareTo function and pick Text message.
In android, hold your finger somewhere on the paragraph you want to copy. Two sliders will appear after about 2 seconds and you can "pull" the sliders to the beginning and end of the text you want to copy...in effect highlighting it. As you release your finger from adjusting the second slider's position to contain the text, a function bar will pop up that includes "copy". simply press copy and the text will be in your clipboard. Then press and hold your finger in the text writing window and "paste" will appear. Press paste and the paragraph will be in your texting window. Send it.
