I am being agressively recruited to work at a Nigerian Liguid Natural Gas refinery! The pay is off the chart and so are the perks!!! It seems to good to be true!!??!!

Some good info there about Nigeria in the SCAMS and SAFETY sections but if you say the wrong thing they'll start calling you a muppet.

John Browning about a decade ago, I was being head-hunted for refinery construction work over there.

The pay that they were offering was incredible (particularly given the exchange rate, and the banking options that they were offering).

I wasn't too fussed with the way that the locals were being treated, and the security aspect of it.

Off topic a bit but my wife's father worked for Mobil oil, now XOM and they were offered a good package to go to Saudi Arabia. Didn't take it. If you don't have kids and want a change, go for it. They have compounds that are basically a microcosm of America for kids that would grow up their. In the world today, I wouldn't even think about it.

I don't know anything about working over there...

But I have an e-mail from the president of Nigeria himself, and he's going to give me $100,000 if I can help him deposit some cashiers' checks in my bank account!

A contract house here in Michigan is doing the recruiting it is not that lame $100,000 dollar banking scam that arives in your mail box 203 times a week!!!

I do have a wife adn three boys but would never take them over their! I would just go by myself and consider it a temporary hardship tour!! Kind of like going to Korea if you are in the Army etc....

A lady at church is from Nigeria. Her parents have been here for a few months, and they are great, everybody loves them. They recently returned because of the death of a family member, and on the way to the home town of the relative, they came to a place where traffic was backed way up. They assumed it was a police checkpoint, but it turned out that it was a holdup. These guys were just robbing everybody in all the cars. The mom mouthed off to them a bit, which isn't the smartest thing, but they got away without losing anything but some cash and jewelry.
So...if you go, and see a lineup of cars, you might turn around and make tracks.
