How a torque wrench works.

Interesting. I still have the old beam-type torque wrench that my grandfather used. He would look at the dial and say, "Close enough!"
And "close enough" is probably just fine for most home applications. Beam wrenches don't fall out of calibration (unless severely damaged). More important than knowing how those click wrenches work, is understanding the torque process and how much error (+/- > 25%) can be easily induced by all of the variables (thread condition, technique, etc.). Preaching to the choir, I assume.
