I'm beginning to get pretty fed up with Wal Mart these days. Beside the whole concept of the company, the oil selection is hit or miss. Not to get off topic....

My question is, does anyone have a list, or just an idea who makes all of the house brand oils? I'm thinking about using them in one of my vehicles, as well as my outdoor equipment.

Around me, I have advance, Murrays, Napa, and autozone.

Any preference...any better than the other?

Thanks.

House brand SM rated GF-4 oil will do just fine for *most* cars.

If I could find this stuff cheap (free) I would use it no without any worries.

The store locator map shows there are quite a few Menards hardware stores in Illinois. Buy some Shell oil there when it goes on sale. It can't be any worse than the house brands that you listed.

Most on here would go 5-6k on name brand oils, so if you think house brands are less robust just use for less time maybe only 3k max. Now are they 1/2 the price of name brands is so just stick with name brands for safety. Usually they are only a little less expensive so not really worth buying, since somewhat unsure of quality.

Go with the house brands for 5k. They all have a decent additive pack. Save some bucks and sleep well at night. Use a good filter and you're all set. Way too much oil hype these days.
For extended drains use a synthetic. Pretty simple.
