Hotplate Recommendation Wanted

The stove in my kitchen is electric and far from ideal for using the Moka Pot. I want a small hotplate to keep on or close to the stove for the Moka Pot, maybe for my little 1-quart pan, butter warmer, and the like. I've never owned a hotplate before, so my request is a blend of desire and ignorance. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Small size is a big concern. If the plate diameter is about 6 inches and the unit's footprint is not much greater, I'll be in Hotplate Heaven. Do you know of anything that may come close to fitting the bill?

I'd like to keep the price to a maximum of around $50.00 and will consider spending more for something exceptional.

here is a mini it uses induction but comes with a "hot plate" (they show it heating glass cookware)

Much safer, but it won't work with aluminum or copper bottom pans, most stainless steel ones are fine.
Of course, you can spend more if you wish.

Thanks for the links.

I didn't say my stove isn't unsuitable. I said it's not ideal.

It has a coil element which makes placing the moka pot a minor inconvenience, it uses a lot of energy compared to a hotplate (based on what I've learned), and because of the size of the moka pot and the coil element spacing, the pot doesn't feel very stable. All minor issues, but I just don't want to deal with them.

If you've never used an induction stove or hot plate before, it will be hard ffor me to explain the differences.
But for starters,
no hot surface
automatic shut off
won't heat your house, just the pot.

Oh yeah, and I have no idea what a Moka pot is, just a hotplate.

OK, just Googled it, it's for making coffee, not soldering.

That thing looks a little too industrial for a (my) home kitchen, but I love the way it looks, it fits my requirements albeit on the high side of the budget. Some things about it are intriguing, and I'm going to look into it. Thanks!

Later: I just saw that you linked to two models. The blue one would add a nice dash of color to my kitchen and cooking area. It actually made me smile when I saw it.

You should re-read what I wrote. I was saying my two suggestions are more than his $50 top.

Plus use quotes, prevents all this confusion.

Yeah I was wondering about that. I have a similar one in my shop, works fine. I think it's funny, you want something more refined, and it's usually made lousy - like a coil unit. If you want a nicer lab hot plate, will be over $100 easy, will have stirring though.

@CharlieJ ... This looks promising, especially wrt the size and price. When using it for the first few times, did you encounter an odor like the smell of burning plastic? That was mentioned in one of the descriptive videos I watched as well as in reviews of similar hotplates.

What are the unit's dimensions ... what's its footprint and the diameter of the platen? Are there any negatives that you can think of? How long have you had yours? Do you use it frequently?

When I first received it, I plugged it in outside and set it to the max temp for like 15 minutes to "gas off". It's been fine ever since. I've had it for 3 years now and have used it hundreds of times to make moka pot coffee in the morning. No negatives for me, you will need to get the feeling of how hot each number on the dial gets when making the moka pot to make the perfect pot!
The hot plate is 3 7/8 inches. It gets hot quickly!
