Got it filled up this weekend and was seemingly working fine. Saw some water on the bottom but with filling and my 8 year old playing in it, figured it was just spillage. However, notice couple of days later, bottom was a little wet. Pulled the cover off and there is a small pin-hole leak coming from one of the jets going into the hot tub. About a drip every 6 secs or so, no problem. They usually fix themselves and the hot tub had been emptied for about two years. Anyway, fired up the jet pumps and there was a stream of running down the bottom of the hot tub. Didn't take the side cover off, got to move the deck, PITA. Anyway, this is obviously a pressure leak. Before turning the jet pump on, the bottom of the floor was bone dry. After firing up the jet pump, it was all wet with a good size flow. Not like it drained the hot tub, but you could tell. I'm thinking this is NOT a pump seal leak, correct? It only leaks when the pump is on. Would the pressure from the pump force the water out of the actual water pump? Could this be a simple loose hose or something minor like that?

Well, since a lot of you read it and no replies, I'll fill you in as to what happened. Pulled the deck off last night and opened it up. Turns out what I read was right. If there are no leaks when the jet pump is off, then it's going to be something past the pump where there is positive pressure. Got in there and looked. Sure enough, the two PVC threaded connections that are hooked to the pump itself where actually loose. I mean I could hand turn them both, the suction and the pressure side, about an 1/8th of a turn. Just to make sure, they say don't do this but it's like a oil filter, I get them hand tight and then tweak it with a little of the oil filter wrench. I grapped a pair of huge channel locks and tightened it down about another 1/8th. Problem solved. I'm glad, because having to disconnect the power and the two PVC lines and unbolting the pump itself and then finding the correct part, hot tub is about 15 years old, would be another challenge. They still make the pump and motors and all that, but just different configurations and I'd have to come up with some aftermarket engineering.
